about the project
Ink Factory is based in Chicago and their tagline is ‘You talk. We draw. It’s awesome.’ They do real-time note-taking for clients like Amazon, Cisco, Target and the United Nations. They create videos and illustrations that make complex ideas simple and give workshops on how to think, learn and communicate visually.
I did two websites for Ink Factory. I rebuilt the first project from scratch with fresh clean code to be faster and more SEO friendly, ported their blog content and customized their backend so the whole team can easily update content.
Then in 2018, as the company continued its growth, the next update kept the blog and basic functionality but dramatically changed how content is organized in the backend. Each page now has “customized content blocks” that are grouped with customized data fields (like text/image sections, videos, galleries, testimonial tickers, mailing list forms, etc.). The blocks are responsive, can be reordered with drag-and-drop, and allow the team at Ink Factory to easily enter and modify complex content in a visual way with very little coding.
words from Ryan
Deb was able to take our website to a whole different level. From the backend to the frontend, the site functionality is impeccable. In the past, only one person on our team was able to understand how to make updates to the site. Now, our whole team can easily (and quickly) make edits or additions to our online portfolios, integrated blog, and new offerings. We’re extremely proud to focus our marketing efforts to the website because it accurately and effectively represents who and what were are - all of this due to the ability to maintain an up to date presence. Deb was extremely collaborative and was quick to get everything finished in a timely manner - from comps to final go-live site. She rocks!
